Plum and Watermelon Sour

I was recently asked by a guest at The Blue Bar to make a Fruity sweet and Sour Cocktail using Vodka. Being completely honest Vodka isn't my first choice when it comes to making sour cocktails, in fact its well down the list.

I muddled up some fresh watermelon, added a freshly squeezed lemon. I love using fresh ingredients they make mixology easier as they give your cocktail flavours that taste alive and give a lovely fresh aroma.

Unfortunately I'm only as good as the ingredients I use.

An Egg White, lots of people get scared by Egg whites thinking It'll add some horrible raw egg taste to the drink, this isn't the case egg whites add no taste, but are wonderful for taking the edge of harsh flavours in this case Sourness. Egg Whites also give cocktails a sexy foam on top.

For sweetness I added Plum Jam which gave the drink another dimension to just a simple watermelon sour.

I opted for Ketel One Vodka which is terrific vodka very smooth, great for mixing cocktails with.

The final ingredient was some Plum infused Sake, I am bless to have a wonderful Plum Sake among my stock which is incredibly mixable.

After a good shake I just sprayed some homemade Plum Bitters on Top

The finished product taste fresh, Fruity with a nice sour tang. Plus lovely fresh lemon and Plum aroma's

Most Importantly the guest enjoyed the drinks so much she ordered 2 more
