Bartenders Chocolate
Created by Joel Scholtens Lindsay for the Blue Bar, Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi
Bartenders Chocolate was initially named Chocolate Glory, I used to give it to guests mainly females on their birthday. It has taken several years but I have finally added it onto a cocktail menu at the Blue Bar.
The reason it's taken so long is chocolate cocktails are no long fashionable and trendy. So many people on this planet love chocolate myself included how can chocolate go out of Fashion.
I love Chocolate, I find it extremely difficult when visiting a shop and seeing chocolates in fancy colourful rappers to say no.
Companies like Nestle and Lindt have made a small fortune off me over the years.
So it's only natural I mix some chocolate cocktails no matter if its trendy or not, I like drinks that taste good.
Back when I first started working in bars pretty much ever cocktail menu had Chocolate Cocktails, however it's no longer trendy, yet every time I put a cocktail with chocolate on a menu it sells, people enjoy it.
The Main flavour in bartenders chocolate is chocolate, In this case Hershy's Chocolate Sauce.
I use Ron Zacapa 23 year old Solera Rum, which is just the most elegant Rum, I love the stuff.
I add a little bit of lime, some homemade Vanilla syrup which I make very light on the Sugar. Vanilla is just such a wonderful match to Chocolate.
A very small amount of honey water, I want the drink to be a Rich Sweet cocktail but it's easy to become sickly sweet, not good. The honey adds a lovely backdrop taste.
The finished cocktail has a Rich, sweet but not as sweet as the drink sounds with a strong Rummy Chocolate taste
