Bio of Loy Catada
Loy Catada is one of the most successful bartenders to ever work in the bars of the world, one of Australia’s most globally recognised bartenders. Loy made his name as a dynamite flair bartender winning 7 Australian Championships & 2 World championships but has since enhanced his reputation by building a great career by becoming one of the worlds top bartender trainers & consulting on a series of top bars.
From 2004 to 2006 Loy Catada has been Head Mixologist & Bar consultant for the Shangri la hotel Sydney working in the Blue Horizon Bar on of Sydney’s most upmarket bars with a view over looking Sydney. Loy created all the hotels cocktail list’s, designed the bar, selected the stock & built the venues beverage infrastructure.
From 2002 to 2006 Loy has been brand ambassador for Bar & Clubs Magazine. Since 2001 Loy Catada has been the official Flair Bartender Trainer for the International Bartending Association In 2006 Loy has done bartending events for Cleo magazine, GQ Magazine, Fosters, Suntory, Pernod Richard, Bacardi Lion & Mix 101.5 FM.
Loy Catada has Consulted on the Manalay Room Kings Cross, the Block Penrith & Oscars Bar at Bankstown & Loy has also appeared on TV shows the Great Outdoors & Sydney Weekender. In 2005 Loy spent 5 months as Bar Manager at Planet Bar Sydney, Consulted on the Ranch hotel Sydney & The Bligh Hotel Sydney. Loy was featured on the TV shows Getaway & Mixing with the Best.
2005 was a very successful year for Loy Catada in bartending competitions at the end of 2005 Loy also decided to retire from competition bartending. Featured on TV show Getaway & the ARIA Awards. In 2003 Loy was Bar Manager of Cherry Jam Double bay before that working for Cruz bar Sydney as Bar Manager from 2001 to mid 2003. In 2003 Loy was featured on the TV show Getaway. From 2000 to 2003 Loy was also Flair Bartending Teacher for Alex Beaumont’s bartending School Sydney.
