Bartender Objectives

This page is a small extract from one of our earth bar training manuals, this page identifies 5 objectives a bartender should be seek to achieve on every shift

Speed

Work to a routine. Steady, fluent speed within your guests patience boundaries. Getting everything done with maximum efficiency & seeing what is going to need to be done before it needs doing is the secret.

Attention to detail

There is no point being fast & consistent if you get everything wrong consistently quickly. Never be afraid to double check an order & work at a comfortable speed. Always be aware of everything that is happening in your section of the bar. Always keep your area clean. Communicate what you are going to need to bar backs & supervisors in advance.

Satisfaction

Where ever it is possible double check with guests on how they like their drinks & in particular cocktails. You can easily judge from there reaction if your cocktail or the drink you mixed reached their expectation or not. See what you can do to remedy the situation.

Consistency

Keep you’re your drinks including cocktails the same across the board. If one bartender make a cocktail one way & another bartender makes it a different way, your venue will look unprofessional & will irritate your customers. Also consistency with the amount of head on a beer & the amount of liquor in your mixed drinks needs to be consistent. Always however make drinks & cocktails the way a guest requests.

Freshness

Cocktails should be delivered to customers with maximum efficiency, as ingredients can separate, dilute & generally look unattractive. Always fill mixed drinks with ice as this will actually slow the dilution effect, also chill beer & cocktail glasses as it will increase the longevity of these drinks.

People are not hard to satisfy, if you make the effort to identify what pleases them.
